• Arbutin: is a natural depigmentant with a structure similar to hydroquinone that is extracted from the leaves of the bearberry plant, and is also found in lower quantities in the leaves of blueberry and cranberry. This component reduces the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the synthesis of melanin (skin pigment) and reduces the formation of melanin accumulations on the skin surface.
• Enoxolone or glycyrrhetinic acid: obtained from the licorice root, it contains a triterpene, glycyrrhizin, which is transformed into glycyrrhetic acid.
