It is important to keep the skin dry before using the mask and to avoid touching the inside with your hands. To position it properly, the first thing is to adjust the elastic band around the ears until it is in a comfortable position. Next, adjust the outer face of the mask to the structure of the face until it is correctly deployed and seals all possible exit spaces for the breath. Their labeling must include a reference to the UNE standard, which is the standard validated by the Spanish state health authorities to manufacture them:
-UNE 0064-1:2020: in non-reusable hygienic masks for adults.
-UNE 0064-2:2020: in children's non-reusable hygienic masks.
-UNE 0065:2020: in reusable toilet bowls for adults and children.
In addition, the purchased masks must also contain, on their labeling, instructions or elsewhere, the following information: the manufacturer of the product, the name of the masks, their size and measurements, whether they are reusable or not, the instructions for use, a list specifying the materials with which they are made and information on their maintenance, as well as the number and method of washing if reusable.
IIR masks, what are they?
Indicator I or II on surgical masks specifies the bacterial filtration efficiency (EFB), that is, the mask's ability to capture droplets, particles and emissions potentially carrying bacteria or viruses, emitted by the user when breathing, talk, cough or sneeze. It also takes into account breathability , that is, the ease and comfort of being able to inhale outside air when breathing.
As a general rule, type I should be used in patients and users who are not suspected of being carriers of a dangerous and contagious virus, in order to reduce the risk of infection transmission, particularly in the health field or in high-risk situations. epidemic danger. For their part, type II are those whose objective is to control emissions in situations of certain risk or suspicion of being able to contract viruses or infections in closed spaces or environments with characteristics that may favor contagion.
For its part, the R indicates whether the mask is resistant to fluids. It is recommended to use these masks, for example, the IIR, to have adequate protection against infections that can be transmitted by potentially contaminated droplets, fluids or other body fluids.
