Retinol , also known as vitamin A, is often considered the gold standard in anti-aging skin care. When applied to the skin, it is converted to retinoic acid, the active form of vitamin A. Retinoic acid contributes to the synthesis of collagen and prevents its breakdown so that the skin appears visibly smoother and younger.
