Thealoz Duo is a sterile, preservative-free, hypotonic and pH-neutral aqueous ophthalmic solution . Its main ingredients are trehalose , a disaccharide present in numerous plants and animals, and sodium hyaluronate , a polysaccharide naturally present in the eye. Thus, and thanks to its unique combination of trehalose and sodium hyaluronate, Thealoz Duo provides protection, hydration and lubrication of the ocular surface for a long period of time and with maximum comfort .

The physiochemical characteristics of trehalose provide it with protective, antioxidant and moisturizing properties . For these reasons, it is an essential element in the anhydrobiotic mechanism observed in certain microorganisms (a latent metabolic state that allows them to survive states of extreme dehydration).

Trehalose also has properties that allow the protection and stabilization of cell membranes , preventing protein alteration and lipid deterioration, as well as antioxidant properties .

Sodium hyaluronate is a natural polysaccharide present in the human eye , with unique water retention properties . Its considerable water retention capacity results in accentuated hydration and lubrication of the corneal surface. Likewise, its bioadhesive properties allow greater adherence of the product to the ocular surface , which provides long-lasting relief and shortens the healing time of the corneal epithelium.

To obtain the greatest tolerance , Thealoz Duo is a preservative-free solution, thanks to the ABAK® multidose packaging . This innovative patented system allows eye drops to be administered through the 0.2 μm filter membrane , which prevents any bacterial contamination of the solution . Thus, the solution is protected and can be used for up to 3 months after opening the container .
