MEDELA SpecialNeeds Baby Bottle

It is a special bottle for those babies who are not able to create a vacuum due to certain syndromes and neurological disorders , or because they were born with a cleft lip or palate.

The SpecialNeeds bottle is designed to allow the baby to express milk by compression when it cannot create the necessary vacuum to extract it .

The one-way valve prevents air from entering the nipple . The caregiver can easily control the milk flow thanks to a split valve mechanism.

It can be used with teats of two different sizes.

In addition, the SpecialNeeds bottle offers the opportunity to adapt the flow of liquid to the needs of the infant . Use the lines on the nipple to determine the flow of liquid.

• The shorter line corresponds to zero flow.
• The middle stripe , with a medium flow.
• The longest line , with the maximum flow .
• To select a flow rate , align the corresponding stripe on the nipple with the infant's nose .

Choose zero flow (the shortest line ) if the infant needs to get used to the nipple before starting feeding .

Materials: valve membrane and silicone nipple . The rest of the bottle is made of polypropylene.

• Infants with Pierre Robin syndrome or Down syndrome.

How to use

It is recommended that the mother give the first feedings with the SpecialNeeds bottle under the supervision of a professional / staff with relevant training.

Always check the temperature of the liquid before feeding the baby.

1. Hold the valve plate with the lip facing up . Place the white membrane on the valve plate , inside the flange.
2. Push the diaphragm boss completely through the center hole of the valve plate .
3. Fill the bottle with the necessary amount of liquid.
4. Place the assembled valve with the lip facing up over the opening of the bottle.
5. Place the nipple on the valve plate so that the lip is inside the nipple.
6. Place the lid on the nipple . Screw all the pieces with the lid.

1. Keep the bottle upright . Squeeze the teat to let some air out.
2. Continue squeezing while turning the bottle upside down.
3. Now release the nipple and the liquid will enter it.
4. Repeat the previous steps until the teat is full. Apply pressure only to the part of the teat that does not have liquid.
