Atopic dermatitis is caused by a lack of ceramides in the skin. Ceramides act as the cement of the skin, keeping it firm and united. A lack of ceramides decreases the skin's defense function, and can cause itching, redness, dryness and inflammation.

Itching, especially in newborns and babies, causes them to scratch and cause wounds. Wounds also facilitate the appearance of infections, which in turn cause worsening of inflammation, which aggravates dryness and itching. In this way, a vicious circle is generated that must be interrupted.

Xeramance Plus Cream is recommended for very dry, irritated or atopic skin, especially when outbreaks of atopic eczema occur. It immediately soothes itchy skin, deeply moisturizes and restores the lipid content of the skin, restoring its function as a protective barrier.

Apply to affected areas as many times as necessary.

The Spanish Pediatric Association offers us the following advice to prevent and treat atopic dermatitis:

- Avoid very long baths. They should not last more than 5-10 minutes.

- Use a paraffin or oatmeal soap.

- Use bath oils that can be added to water. Apply it to damp skin after bathing.

- Apply moisturizing cream. It is very important to keep the skin well hydrated.

- Avoid wool and fiber clothing. It is preferable to use cotton clothing and avoid very tight clothing. Do not overdress the baby.

- Keep your little one's nails short and clean to avoid infection if they scratch.
